"Obviously, this (governing during coronavirus) is a pretty high stress situation and definitely not something I expected in my first year in office. But once you've been shot at a few times, everything else seems relatively manageable. So that has helped me keep perspective and keep calm. But I have really drawn on my time in combat in high stakes, high pressure situations...having to make decisions with limited information. There's so much change and uncertainty with Covid, but even in the midst of that, you have to make decisions that are going to have consequences. ..."


- Ulster County Executive Pat Ryan during interview with The SullivanTimes earlier today. Ryan, who graduated with honors from West Point, served two combat tours in Iraq, including one as the lead intelligence officer for an infantry battalion of 1,000 soldiers and officers responsible for ground operations in Mosul.
