BREAKING: CARE CENTER ADMINISTRATOR RESIGNS AFTER FOUR MONTHS

Following is a July 30 story broken by The SullivanTimes that may have played a role in the abrupt resignation today of Sherrita Alexander, who in April took the job as administrator of The Care Center at Sunset Lake in Liberty.

EXCLUSIVE: NEW ADMINISTRATOR AT CARE CENTER MAY HAVE PADDED HER RESUME TO GET THE JOB

SOURCE SAYS SHE ONLY WORKED AT HYDE PARK FACILITY FOR 2 to 2.5 YEARS

County Manager Joshua Potosek may have failed to sufficiently check the background of Sherrita Alexander, who was appointed as the new administrator for The Care Center at Sunset Lake in April.

In a news release issued by Potosek on April 13, it states that Alexander came to the job after "four years" as administrator of the Eleanor Nursing Care Center in Hyde Park, NY. However, a source at that home in Dutchess County told The SullivanTimes today that Alexander worked there "at most, two to two and a half years."

And in September 2019, with Alexander still in charge, the New York State Department of Health slammed the Eleanor Nursing Care Center with multiple violations, which can be seen at the link below.

Part of the DOH report discussed residents being allowed to flick cigarette ashes on the floor of the facility (see comments below).

Earlier today, the Legislature defeated a resolution put forth by Chair Rob Doherty that would have terminated some 20 employees of the Care Center. Alexander was charged with the responsibility to fire some of them yesterday. The SullivanTimes confirmed last night that one of those employees was in fact "terminated" by Alexander in a telephone call.

It's unclear at press time if those terminations have been rescinded by the County since the resolution for the terminations was defeated by a 5-4 vote this morning. Either way, the premature firings that happened on Wednesday afternoon, whether official or not, could result in significant legal liability for the County.

The SullivanTimes was unable to reach Alexander at the nursing home as of yet for comment on her background and on her handling of the terminations.
