CANDIDATE RAPPAPORT FIRES 1st LEGAL SHOT VS SULLIVAN BOE & FALLSBURG SUPERVISOR VEGLIANTE

INCUMBENT DEMOCRAT EXPECTED TO FILE HIS OWN SIMILAR CIVIL ACTION TODAY

Katherine Jane Rappaport (Preserve Sullivan), who is trailing Democrat incumbent Steve Vegliante by 406 votes in the Fallsburg supervisor race after Election Day results, late Friday filed a lawsuit in State Supreme Court/ Sullivan County urging the court to "rule upon the casting or canvassing or the refusal to cast or canvas any ballot" in the race.

The suit, filed against election commissioners Cora Edwards and Lori Benjamin as well as Vegliante, alleges that the the Board of Elections' re-canvasing process is incomplete and that the current results could be inaccurate.

Meanwhile, the Board of Elections told The SullivanTimes last week that absentee ballot counting in three contested town supervisor races will begin tomorrow, Tuesday, November 16.

Vegliante is expected to file his own lawsuit sometime today, a source told The SullivanTimes today.

Rappaport did not run as a Republican but had the full support of the Sullivan County Republican Committee - while her campaign also received a significant boost from support and appearances with State Senator Mike Martucci and Sheriff Mike Schiff.
