Deputy County Attorney Defends Sheriff Schiff Firing of Sgt. Minkler In State Supreme Court Papers

Deputy County Attorney Thomas J. Cawley on Tuesday filed a memorandum of law in support of the County's motion to dismiss a petition by former Sgt. Gerald C. Minckler, Jr., a long-serving and high-ranking County Jail employee who is trying to get reinstated to his job - despite credible sworn testimony by two female subordinates that he sexually harassed them multiple times.


The suit was filed by Minckler in July and is before State Supreme Court Justice Stephan Schick.


Sheriff Michael Schiff terminated Minckler in March of this year after a Civil Service Section 75 hearing and as previously reported by The SullivanTimes.
