ESTRANGED HUSBAND SUSPECT IN MURDER OF WIFE

JUST ARRIVED IN SULLIVAN THREE WEEKS AGO FROM NC

CLARKSON WAS PREVIOUSLY EMPLOYED AT KARTRITE

LIBERTY - New details are emerging late today regarding the murder of a 30-year-old woman by her estranged husband - Cedric Clarkson - at 40 Liberty Street here. Liberty Police have not released the victim's name but family members have been notified.

According to a relative, Clarkson, the 49-year-old suspect in the murder, was not a full-time resident of Liberty. But his wife, who he was separated from, allowed him to stay there since he reportedly had nowhere else to live after arriving back in Sullivan about three weeks ago from North Carolina.

"He actually beat her to death," the victim's relative told The SullivanTimes. "He confessed to everything."

Clarkson was previously employed as a line cook at the Kartrite Resort as an original employee until the water park was shuttered by executive order in mid-March, according to a separate source who knew the victim and the suspect. (Clarkson reportedly then relocated down South). That source said there was a pattern of domestic abuse and the victim's relative also confirmed same.

The adult children of the suspect found the victim's body in a shed behind her home late Monday night and Liberty Police announced Clarkson's arrest today.

The victim's relative told The SullivanTimes that Clarkson's adult daughter was helping her stepmother raise the couple's two young children. Clarkson has roots in St. Louis and the couple also lived there during their marriage.

The 40 Liberty Street property is currently owned by a Brooklyn investor "32 Sandy LLC."

Below is a Facebook post by Clarkson from September, which is one of a few expressing anger. CAUTION: FOUL LANGUAGE IS CONTAINED IN THE POST

A woman named Sheila Assouline is listed as a contact for the company. When reached this afternoon, Assouline said she would have the owner of the property call back.

Clarkson had a series of angry posts on Facebook in recent months (see below).
