EXCLUSIVE
The SullivanTimes just completed an interview/panel discussion about the future of the Care Center at Sunset Lake in Liberty.
The leadership of the County Legislature on Monday announced its intentions to sell the facility, which took Care Center employees and families of the residents by surprise.
The County claims in a news release that was issued on Monday that a sale is necessary to save money. However, the three people interviewed today believe that not only are there other ways to find revenues, but that selling the facility will do great harm to current residents, future residents and employees.
A public hearing on the sale of the facility has been scheduled for 8 am, Tuesday July 14.
Thanks to Kenneth Walter (co-chair of the Sullivan Legislative Action Committee) as well as Catherine Scott and Louis Setren, whose mothers are residents, for their participation and insights.
