TEACHOUT RUNNING FOR NY AG IN 4th TRY AT PUBLIC OFFICE

Democrat Zephyr Teachout today officially announced that she is running to be Attorney General of New York State.

It came in the form of a post to her Facebook page and Twitter account this morning.

Teachout, 50, has an extensive academic and legal background but has never held elective office.

In 2014, she lost a primary race for governor (vs Andrew Cuomo), was defeated by John Faso in the 19th Congressional District race (2016), and most recently, in 2018, lost in the Democratic primary to current AG Letitia James- who is now running for governor.

In that primary, Teachout placed second behind James out of four candidates.

One of the other two people in that field was Congressman Sean Patrick Maloney.

Democrat State Senator Shelley Mayer, from Yonkers, has also thrown her hat in the AG ring.

And, Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzales is expected to announce soon whether he will enter the Democratic primary race.
