THE SULLIVAN IN ROCK HILL SOLD - BUT NO LONGER A HOTEL RESNICKS CONFIRM DEAL LATE TODAY

BREAKING: The Sullivan in Rock Hill, a hotel that for eight years has been owned by The Resnick Group, has been sold to the New York State Hamaspik Association, The SullivanTimes learned today.

A source at Hamaspik confirmed the transaction and another source said the deal closed in the past three weeks.

Late this afternoon, The Resnick Group confirmed the sale and issued a statement that can be found in comments below.

"After a lot of consideration, and eight years of pride in owning and operating The Sullivan, the Resnick Family has made the difficult decision to sell its hotel and Event Center," the statement said, noting that the Covid-19 pandemic factored into the timing of the decision. "As the pandemic continues, we have no assurance that large gatherings will be allowed in the months ahead. This prompted our decision to sell."

The facility, which for years functioned as a hotel/event venue, will reportedly now be used as a retreat for families that include people with intellectual and/or developmental disabilities.

A link to the brochure of the company is attached.

Media Statement from the Resnick Family After a lot of consideration, and eight years of pride in owning and operating The Sullivan, the Resnick Family has made the difficult decision to sell its hotel and Event Center.

Like many other businesses locally and across the nation, we’ve had a significant drop in business due to the coronavirus. As the pandemic continues, we have no assurance that large gatherings will be allowed in the months ahead. This prompted our decision to sell.

We are thrilled that our facility helped create so many happy memories. It also has been an honor to contribute to the local economy by providing jobs, as well as business for local suppliers and vendors.

We are proud that we will retain ownership of Bernie’s Holiday Restaurant, Crust Italian Eatery and Brew. They are not part of this transaction and will continue to provide great meals and catering. We also welcome the opportunity to bring our mobile catering services to locations chosen by our customers.

Thank you, Sullivan County, for your support. We appreciate your loyalty and hope to continue to see you at one of our eateries soon – or at your catered event.
